Happy April Fool’s Day (really!)

We wish you a merry, whoops, wrong holiday. Happy April Fool’s Day. I forgot the origin of this rather silly holiday, so I took a whirl through cyberspace to get the scoop on the annual celebration for the inner pranksters in many of us. Here is what I found on Wikipedia: The earliest recorded association between April 1 and sheer goofiness is seen in Geoffrey Chaucer’s “The Canterbury Tales.” (Written in 1392, the book was required reading for me in English Lit class.) Some writers suggest the restoration of Jan. 1 as New Year’s Day in the 16th century was responsible for the creation of the holiday, but this theory does not explain earlier references. I could gladly go on and on with historic details, but I won’t. You, my fellow fashionista, need to embrace the good-natured side of this day … as well as the sunny skies we have here in southeastern Ohio. (And please shop local!)
